#FAST TRACK ULTRA 8R FULL#
It's a lot like using a full analog monitoring system where monitoring and playback are sent through the same effects rack. I don't mention the latency at 64 samples and no one else seems to either. I think everyone enjoys hearing the same exact effects stack that they heard themselves perform through when I press play after a take. but for the past 2 years I've been monitoring direct through SONAR at 64 sample buffer and it seems to work great at about 3.+/- milliseconds round trip latency. I've got the option to monitor thru a true zero latency all analog hardware system, or through a 1.2+/-ms digital hardware system built in to my MOTU I/O stuff, or direct monitor through SONAR at 3+/-ms. Just for the record: around here the Focusrite unit are a bit more expensive than FTU 8r.įWIW zero latency hardware monitoring is usually 1.2+/- millisecond round trip latency. Now I read that the latency of Saffire is too big for that (something to do with the firewire chipset that they use).Īnd the latency of the Saffire PRO 40 is not going to let me record like I described? I'll record eight different voices through the interface and the way I'd like to do that is monitoring through SONAR with an FX Chain that I've already built for each voice (EQ, Compressor and sends for reverb/delay). Now it cames the more complicated part of the story: But in the other hand, I'll be using all the 8 XLR inputs and I read that the FTU 8r preamps are not that good, so that would lead me to Saffire. I really don't need more than 8 inputs, so that would lead me to FTU 8r. Over the past weeks I've been searching information (including here) about these 2 interfaces and I really can't decide which one should I buy. Focusrite Saffire Pro or M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8r
